The story behind Bearfut
Bearfut was born from a very special need close to my heart: finding the perfect footwear for my son. When he took his first steps, I wanted him to have shoes that respected the natural development of his feet, that would accompany him on his adventures and help him walk freely and confidently. However, I soon realized how difficult it was to find ergonomic footwear for toddlers in Colombia. It was then that I realized I wasn't the only mother facing this challenge.
And so, Bearfut was born—a brand that brings together two essential ideas: the freedom of walking as if barefoot, supporting natural and healthy development, and a deep respect for nature. The name Bearfut comes from the English word “barefoot,” and is also inspired by the spectacled bear (oso de anteojos), a symbol of strength, freedom, and harmony with the environment. Our little bear mascot represents these values—values we hope to share with every step taken by the children who wear our shoes.
Each pair of Bearfut shoes is designed to meet the real needs of growing feet, with wide toe boxes, flexible soles, and high-quality materials. Bearfut is more than just a brand—it's a mission to transform the way we think about children's footwear, ensuring that every step supports not only healthy development, but also care for the planet. Place your bare foot on a piece of paper, trace around it, and measure from the heel to the longest toe. Add 0.4 to 1.2 cm for growth space.

“Welcome to my pack”
Hi! I’m Andi, a very curious spectacled bear who lives in the beautiful Andean forests.
Did you know that these forests are full of long paths hiding incredible surprises?
I discovered them with my paws, and I’m here to tell you all about it!
First, let me introduce myself. I’m a spectacled bear – that’s what they call me because of the marks on my face that look like glasses. I’m already 5 years old and a very smart explorer. I live in the high mountain forests... and even in the páramos!
Want to know a secret? I can grow up to two meters tall and weigh up to 175 kilos if I eat well!
One of the things I love the most is climbing. Did you know that spectacled bears are amazing climbers? It’s true! We have sharp claws that help us grip trees and climb more easily. With my paws, I go up and down, exploring every corner of my home. What do you like to do?
Besides climbing, I also love eating. Even though I eat a bit of everything, fruits and plants are my favorite. What’s your favorite food? Here’s something very important: when I eat fruit, I help plant giant trees! How? Well, because when I eat the fruit, the seeds travel with me, and I spread them around as I walk. That’s how I help forests grow even more!
One day, while I was exploring, I came across a river. I carefully got closer and saw lots of fish swimming and jumping. So I thought: “This is the moment you’ve been waiting for!” I used my paws to try fishing and walked along the shore. It was amazing! Even though I didn’t catch anything, I’ll get better and explore other streams. But I learned that the river is a living treasure – a true wonder we must protect. What if we take care of it together?
After my adventure at the river, I went back home to my family and told them everything I had seen and learned. And so, with my paws and my curiosity, I keep exploring and protecting the Andean mountains – my home. Because spectacled bears like me are guardians of this land. And we’ll always be here to protect it... and enjoy it too!
I am Katia Galera, mother and entrepreneur.
Founder of Bearfut
I am an economist by profession, and before starting my own business, I worked in economic research at universities and public sector entities, with a focus on the social evaluation of projects. I was always clear that every project undertaken should have a positive impact on people's well-being, and today, with Bearfut, I can proudly say that I am achieving this.
My journey as an entrepreneur began when I became a mother and faced the difficulty of finding footwear that respected the natural development of my son's feet. From that need, Bearfut was born, a dream come true: to design ergonomic shoes that not only take care of the health of the little ones, but also make life easier for families.
Bearfut is not just a venture, it's a purpose. It makes me happy to know that through this project I'm helping children grow up with freedom and comfort, while supporting other parents in their quest for the best for their children.
